Message "Could not load StoryMap. You must (re)authorize this application"

Hello,

I'm having a trouble with using TimelineJS.

When I try to create a new file, it appears the message "Could not load StoryMap. You must (re)authorize this application".

Here, at work, we use emails with the domain "@observador.pt",

but even when I logout from my account and switch to my gmail accont, I'm still not allowed.

I'd like to know if there is anything that I can do to solve this problem.

Thanks for the attention.

I assume it was a small mistake to reference TimelineJS in the first line of your post?

StoryMap does not work with Google Apps: you must log in with a public GMail account.

You say that you do that and you are "still not allowed." Do you mean that you click on the name of a StoryMap in the list and when you get to the next screen you get the "Could not load..." message? I have not heard this reported before. If this is what you're reporting, can you send a screenshot of the pop-up window listing your storymaps?

I am getting the same response from Google when trying to link to the public folder containing info for a map. Here is the pop up window. I don't see how else to "reauthorize". Help?

    Daniel:

Do you click on something in the list of available StoryMaps and then see that screen? or are you visiting a URL someone else sent to you? Or a URL that is in your browser history?

    @Joe

I just figured it out. Well, sort of. I was clicking on the list of available StoryMaps. But the problem seems to have been the browser. I started the process over again in Firefox and it worked. So the issue seems to be with the browser rather than StoryMap. Thanks for getting back to me about the issue and thanks for all your work with StoryMaps!

Which browser? We'd rather not leave people to have to figure this out so maybe we can fix it, or at least explain it better.

Sorry I forgot to mention that. The problem occurred when I was using Google Chrome. Switching over to Firefox resolved the problem.

I experienced the same error: go to select.html, get the "authorizing" progress widget, get the list of StoryMaps that have been created in Google Drive, then when I click on any of them, I get another authorizing progress widget followed by "Could not load StoryMap. You must (re)authorize this application."

    Chrome 34.0.1847.137 on OSX Mavs.

    Works fine in Firefox.

I keep getting the same issue in Chrome. My work email is from google mail but I'm signing in only with my personal gmail account information. When I do and then create a map I'm asked to reauthorize then get stuck in an endless loop of linking accounts, creating a map, etc.

I am having the same difficulty using both Chrome and Firefox. I can log in, it shows my maps, but when I click on one, it gives me this message: Could not load StoryMap. You must (re)authorize this application.

It worked on my home computer but not on this one.

Further exploration suggests that this is an issue with a browser's settings regarding third-party cookies. Your Google authorization is governed by a cookie on a Google domain, which is "third-party" compared to "knightlab.com". If your browser doesn't allow this, you may see this error. People sometimes disable third-party cookies out of concerns about ad-tracking, but unfortunately, it's critical to how our authoring tool works.
